Red velvet cake to my point of view is naturally and traditionally a red or red-brown chocolate layer cake.


It is typically with layers of buttercream or cream cheese icing.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS 


3 cups all-purpose flour


3 cups granulated sugar


1/2 cup cornstarch


1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder


1 tablespoon baking soda


1½ teaspoons baking powder


1½ teaspoons salt


4 large eggs


1½ cups buttermilk


1¼ cups warm water


1/2 cup vegetable oil


1 teaspoon vanilla extract


1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar


2 tablespoons red food coloring

 

 

FROSTING ICING 



16 ounces cream cheese softened


1 cup butter softened


4 cups powdered sugar


1 teaspoon vanilla extract
